Admission: FREE
Adults are invited to join for a FREE and exclusive screening of the first two episodes of the newest season of Free State Horror Stories.
This locally produced YouTube TV series focuses on ghost stories and hauntings in the state of Kansas. Includes Q&A with filmmakers Matty D Media and Johnathan Hart.
Child & Parent Book Discussion: Spooky Edition

Location: Indian Creek Library – 16100 W. 135th Street
Hours: 7 to 8 p.m.
Admission: FREE
Parent read William Allen White award nominee Scritch Scratch by Lindsay Currie with kids followed by a group book discussion. Kids get a FREE copy of the book when registering. This is most appropriate for kids in third to fifth grade.
Snack provided.
Hocus Pocus Escape Room
October 15, 17 and 18, 2022
Location: Indian Creek Library – 16100 W. 135th Street
Hours: Varies by day – Noon to 4:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Admission: FREE
Teens and adults are invited to explore the abandoned house of the Sanderson sisters. Once inside, participants use clues and curiosity to find their way out. Feel free to dress in Hocus Pocus-themed costumes.
Registration required for a 25-minute time slot in the Hocus Pocus Escape Room. Teams are limited to six people. Only one person from each team needs to register.
Adaptive Rec Boo Bash
October 21, 2022
5 to 6:30 p.m.
Olathe Community Center – 1205 E. Kansas City Road
Celebrate with friends and families, wear costumes and dance the night away during this Adaptive Rec event that offers spooky fun for persons with intellectual or physical challenges.
There is a costume contest with prizes and a photo booth. Registration is $10 per person.
Teen Monster Mash
October 21, 2022
Location: Indian Creek Library – 16100 W. 135th Street
Hours: 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Admission: FREE
This after-hours teen event is FREE, but registration is required. Enjoy an evening of dancing, crafts, and treats. There is also a costume contest.
Haunted Swamp and Pumpkin Dive
October 22, 2022
6:30 to 8 p.m.
Olathe Community Center – 1205 E. Kansas City Rd.
Halloween costumes aren’t allowed for this event, but there is pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating at lifeguard stations, and a pumpkin dive. Attendees can also enjoy open swim in the “swamp.”
Pre-registration is required for kids only. Parents are FREE
Cost is $12 per child for members, $15 for non-members.
Trick-or-Treat Trail
October 28
5:30 to 8 p.m.
Olathe Community Center – 1205 E. Kansas City Rd.
Come join in some FREE Trick-or-Treating fun on a half-mile trick-or-treat trail through Stagecoach Park. Admission is FREE.
Trick-or-Treat OFF the Street
October 29, 2022
Location: Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm – 1200 E. Kansas City Road
Hours: 3 to 6 p.m.
Admission: $4 at the gate, $3 with pre-registration
Dress in your Halloween costume and experience 1860s fall living history activities at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm. Admission includes candy stations and a variety of period-appropriate demonstrations. See complete details here.
