The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad Co. is running a Halloween Train the second, third and fourth weekends in October. Train fares are $10 per person. Kids two and under are FREE.

The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad Co. is a short line passenger railroad and demonstration museum in Belton, MO. Whether you opt for the 1920s era passenger coach or the open-air excursion car, this train ride is like taking a step back in time.

The actual train ride is about 45 minutes, but Halloween Trains include a 10 to 15-minute stop at the pumpkin yard. You’ll find pumpkins for sale, games, candy and Halloween decorations that make a great photo backdrop for the kids.

Halloween trains depart at noon and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 12-13, 19-20 and 26-27, 2019.

Tickets can be purchased online (click here) or at the depot ticket office which opens about one hour before departure.

You need to purchase tickets online at least one day in advance of the day you’re riding the train, as online sales are cut off at midnight the day before departure. They only accept cash and checks (no cards) for tickets purchased at the depot so come prepared if you don’t buy your tickets ahead of time.

Riding with The Belton, Grandview and Kansas City Railroad Co. is like being part of railroad history. Here are some things to keep in mind to make sure you have the best experience on your train ride.

Sometimes tickets sell out so you may want to buy tickets ahead of time to ensure you get seats for the day and time you want to travel.

Have your tickets and be prepared to board the train at least 20 minutes before departure time.

The train isn’t heated or air conditioned, so dress based on the weather the day you’re riding. Layers are suggested.

While you’re waiting for the train, check out the museum and gift shop to learn more about the history of the train.

If you’re bringing a stroller try to use one of the smaller ones as there isn’t room on the train for big ones. If that’s not possible you can store your big stroller at the depot during the ride.

Except for cold bottled water during hot weather, there’s no food and drink served on the train. You can bring your own drinks (no food) but you need to keep a lid on drinks as much as possible. However, there are some good restaurants near the depot so it’s easy to grab lunch or a snack before or after your trip.
