Trick-or-burrito! No bones about it, this Halloween deal really scares up the savings for characters of all kinds.
Back in 2000, Chipotle Mexican Grill first celebrated its popular Boorito giveaway with a burrito-themed costume contest on Halloween night.
In the following years, customers who showed up dressed in any costume on October 31 received a discounted entrée. Now, it has become one of the most popular annual Halloween giveaways for hungry ghosts and goblins everywhere.
As everyone knows, Halloween is definitely going to look different this year and, as a result, the chain’s Boorito is going entirely digital for the first time.
With many spooky traditions being disrupted, Chipotle is bringing back Boorito for its 20th anniversary and giving fans a chance to virtually trick-or-treat for half a million buy-one-get-one FREE entrée codes via text. Each code is valued up to $10.
The giveaway is a little complicated – certainly not as easy as walking into a restaurant in costume.
Here’s the Boorito giveaway works:
A total of 500,000 one-time-use codes will be dropped via Chipotle’s TikTok, Twitter and Instagram accounts from Oct. 29 to 31.
A promo code gives you a FREE entree when you buy one of equal or greater value, up to $10.
To claim one of the codes, you will have to act fast and text the valid keyword to 888-222 — before they’re all gone. (Be warned, the codes are expected to go extremely fast.) The codes can only be redeemed on Halloween, Oct. 31 via the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com.
The official rules say the offer is available from 12:01 am on October 29 to 11:59 p.m. on October 31 Pacific Time. That translates to 2:01 a.m. Central. If you’re really into freebies, you can stay awake or set an alarm to be ready when the giveaway goes live.
