The Kansas City Parks Department is working overtime to provide Kansas City with family-friendly Halloween fun that doesn’t frighten a budget.

These fun and spooky activities are FREE or cheap and take place at various parks and recreation locations in Kansas City, MO.
Some activities are sponsored by the KC Parks and Recreation Department while others are held in conjunction with other organizations. Read details and follow links for more information on each local Halloween event.
Howl-O-Ween at Waggin’ Trail Dog Park
October 8, 2022
1 to 2:30 p.m.
Waggin’ Trail Dog Park – North Kansas City, MO
Admission: $5
Dogs can participate in Halloween fun at Waggin’ Trail Dog Park at NE 32nd and Swift in North Kansas City. Activities include raffle, photo opps, dog-focused vendors, a costume contest and more.
A $5 or item donation gets each dog a trick-or-treat bag.
Items that can be donated include: Dog/Cat Treats, Blankets, Towels, Laundry Detergent/dryer Sheets, Kleenx, Dish Rags, Dog/Cat Toys, Paper Towels, Dawn Dish Soap, Bleach, Dishwasher Detergent and Disinfecting Wipes.

KC Parks & Rec Trunk or Treat

Spooky Skate

Admission: $8 per person; FREE to those in costume
Wear a costume and get FREE admission to the annual Spooky Skate on October 29. Goodie bags are given to the first 75 kids (ages 3-13) registered.
Skate rental is $2.

How about a walk in a cemetery on Halloween! This is a festive afternoon event especially for families. Wear a costume and collect treats as you walk around the peaceful and historic setting of Union Cemetery. Established in 1857, Union Cemetery was located between Westport and the town of Kansas and used by both towns, becoming a “union” between the two.
