The Crown Center Ice Terrace is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The rink closes at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and is closed on Christmas Day. Admission is $7 (FREE for adults over age 60 and kids ages 4 and under); skate rental is $3.
The Ice at Park Place, Leawood’s only outdoor ice rink, is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from Noon to 8 p.m. The rink is open on the holidays. Admisson is $8; skate rental is $3.
Counterpoint Medical Center Community Ice in Independence offers public skating sessions during winter break. Click here for the holiday schedule. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for kids; skate rental is $3.
Kaleidoscope at Crown Center has FREE Creative Art Sessions Monday through Saturday during the holiday break; it’s closed on Christmas Day.
Lakeshore Learning has FREE craft activities for kids ages 3 and up on most Saturdays.
The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is Winter Camp Kemper December 19-21 for ages 7-11. Cost: FREE.
The Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City provides fun, dynamic exhibits and programs that integrate the arts, sciences, and literature for kids ages eight and under, their parents, and teachers from across the Kansas City area. Tickets are $8 for ages 2-63; $7 for ages 64+; and FREE for kids under 2.
Kidscape at the Johnson County Museum is a hands-on exhibit where kids learn to play as they did in the past. It has three unique communities: 1) An 1870s farmstead introduces kids to life on the farm; a 1900 City Market where they’ll sell fruits and vegetables; and 3) A 1950s suburbs community where kids can work in a hospital or at a diner or help build a house. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for kids (1-17).

Winter Break Camps
Here’s a list of Kansas City Winter Break Camps for 2018:
Blue Valley Recreation: Blue Valley is offering a Holiday Softball Camp (ages 8-12), a Holiday Basketball Camp (ages 7-13), a Holiday Pickleball Camp (ages 10-14), and a Volleyball Holiday Camp (ages 2-8) during winter break. Cost: Varies.
Centerpoint Ice Center Skate Camp: Kids can learn to ice skate over winter break. Lessons include skate rental and a 5-day FREE public skate pass. Ages: 3-adult. Cost: $40 per person.
City of Gladstone: Gladstone Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts is offering a Holiday Hoops Basketball Camp (grades 1-8), and a Jolly Volleyball Camp (Grades 4-8). Cost: $50 per child for the sports camps; $170+ for the Youth Tech Camp.
City of Lexena: Drop your kids off at the Lenexa Community Center for a full day of trips and activities, such as bowling, trampolining, roller skating, going to a movie, playing pickleball or dodgeball, making crafts, or playing games. Grades: K-8. Cost: $40.
City of Mission: The Sylvester Powell, Jr. Community Center is hosting a 3-day Winter Break Camp January 2-4 with craft activities, a snowball fight, and an indoor pool. Ages 6-12. Cost: $75 for members; $80 for non-members.
City of Olathe: The Olathe Kids Crew will keep your kids active when schools are not in session. Each day, there will be a unique activity, game, or craft. Grades: K-6. Cost: daily rate $35/resident, $39/non-resident.
Emerald City Gymnastics: Kids will develop gymnastics skills, enjoy fun play time and holiday movies, and participate in games and arts and crafts. Ages: 4-12. Cost: $50 per day; $5 discount for siblings.
Integrity Gymnastics: Integrity offers half and full day camps with activities such as crafts, a giant scavenger hunt, tie dye, and more. Cost: $30/$35 for half day. $50/$60 for full day.
Kansas City Football & Cheerleading Inc.: The organization is holding a Winter Break Football Camp December 27-28. Grades 2-8. Cost: $60.
KC Parks Winter Break Camp: KC Parks is offering games, crafts, field trips, and fun at various locations throughout Kansas City. Ages 6-13. Cost: $10 per day/$40 per week.
Sporting Kansas City Winter Break Camp: The camp will teach Recreational & Competitive boys and girls soccer. Ages 6-14. Cost: $175.
