Black Friday Shopping Events, Deals and Freebies in Kansas City

We’re sure almost every store in Kansas City is running some type of Black Friday deal for 2019.

We’ve done a quick round up of major shopping centers and stores that run annual Black Friday “events” that include FREE gift cards, prizes, and more, in addition to their Black Friday deals.

Black Friday Shopping Events. Deals and Freebies in Kansas City

Half Price Books

On Nov. 29, 2019, doors open at Half Price Books open at 9 a.m. The first 200 people will get a FREE tote bag and a $5 gift card. One bonus bag will include a $100 Half Price Books gift card. Giveaways are while supplies last and you have to be at least 16 to get a bag and gift card.

Friday, Nov. 29 is “Book Friday” and that means everything in the store is 20% off, all day. Half Price Books has stores in Westport (Kansas City, MO), Independence, Olathe and Overland Park. Check here for specifics on all locations

Independence Center

Besides great Black Friday deals from various merchants, Black Friday Fun at Independence Center includes games and prizes in the lower level court by Dillard’s from 10 a.m. to noon. Stop by – it’s FREE with no tickets necessary.

JC Penney

Eat early because doors at Kansas City area JC Penney stores open at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Be first in line and you could receive a coupon good for $10 to $500 off an in-store purchase made Nov. 28 – 30, 2019. Coupons are given out BEFORE doors open.

Kansas State Parks

If shopping isn’t your thing, take advantage of FREE admission to all Kansas State Parks on Black Friday, Nov. 29, 2019. The standard $5 entrance fee is being waived.

Kohl’s

Shoppers get $15 in Kohl’s cash for every $50 spent through Nov. 29, 2019. The Kohl’s cash can be used Nov. 30 – Dec. 9, 2019.

Legendary Black Friday Shopping Event at Legends Outlets

Nov. 29, 2019
6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Big things are happening at the Legends Outlet shopping center on Black Friday 2019.

Swag Bags: The Legends outlet will give away 400 VIP swag bags on Black Friday. Half go to the first 200 shoppers in line at 6 a.m. and the other half go to 200 shoppers at 2 p.m. Anyone who gets a back with a special sticker receives a $50 Legends Outlet gift card as a special bonus. To receive a VIP bag, shoppers need to be at least 13 years or age and register at the VIP table located between Soma and Go! Calendars and Games on the west side. There’s also a prize wheel anyone is welcome to spin.

Black Friday Prize Giveaways: Ten prizes will be given out each hour from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prizes include Helzberg diamond necklaces, $100 Nike gift card, AMC movie tickets, dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse, Michael Kors wristlet, gift cards to JCrew, Maurices, Under Armour, Yard House and more.

A keyword and code will be posted in the center and at the VIP table. Winners will be notified by test with details on how to collect their prize. Shoppers have to be present to enter, but not to win.

Missouri State Parks

Opt to be free outside with Missouri State Parks by participating in #ShopCampTour on Friday, Nov. 29. Anyone camping in a Missouri State Park on Black Friday night, Nov. 29, will receive a camping coupon for a FREE night of camping for the same site type. The camping coupon is good through Nov. 28, 2020.

Quizno’s

Quiznos is running a BOGO promotion over Black Friday weekend. From November 29 – December 1, new and existing Toasty Points members who buy an 8″ Prime Rib (the Prime Rib XL or the Italian Prime Rib) sub will receive any 8″ sub half off at participating locations.

Target

Target has released an early look at its Black Friday ads.

Some deals that caught our eye:

Nintendo Switch System: $300; includes a FREE Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game.
Instant Pot 7-in-1 Duo Nova: Insta Pots and other electric cookers have skyrocketed in popularity. Unfortunately, so has their price. We used to see these for around $50, but now it seems you’re looking at closer to $100 for any model. Target is offering this model for under $70.
Google Home Mini: Hands-free help for $19.
iRobot Roomba 675 Wi-Fi robotic vacuum: IMO, an indispensable helper for any household. Available for $199.99.

Target opens its doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. They close at 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 and reopen at 7 a.m.

Walmart

Walmart’s Black Friday sale starts in stores nationwide at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving. Kick off your shopping with plenty of energy by showing up early from FREE coffee, hot cocoa and snacks at 4 p.m. (participating locations). View the full Black Friday ad here. Walmart Black Friday online sales start even earlier so you might be able to save a trip to the store.

We miss the days of signing a two-year contract and getting a FREE smartphone. It seems like many of the prepaid services offer pretty good deals on smartphones, especially if you’re not obsessed with having the latest and greatest model right when they come out. Here’s a few call outs from Walmart:

Zona Rosa Black Friday Extravaganza

Zona Rosa’s Black Friday extravaganza has giveaways, shopping specials and food trucks to fuel your Black Friday shopping trip. Beginning at 8 a.m., shoppers can line up for these freebies:

First 100 people will receive a free, homemade pop tart from Queen of Tarts food truck
First 200 people get a free Santa Photo Pass
First 500 people get a Zona Rosa Coupon book

Prize giveaways will be done by KC102.1 and Q104 radio stations from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Shoppers can also sign up to win lots of FREE stuff from Zona Rosa merchants. Sign ups must be done on Black Friday at Town Center from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. or The Grove from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prizes include a Kate Spade designer handbag, Par Exsalonce spa service, gift cards from many Zona Rosa merchants and a $500 Zona Rosa shopping spree.
