Nearly vanished skills come to life Sept. 7-8, 2019 at the Westport Lost Arts Fair. The event provides an adventure into Kansas City’s past with craftsmen demonstrating historic “lost arts” like blacksmith work, hand loom weaving, tobacco curing and cultivation, wool spinning, hemp rope making and more.
The event is on the grounds of the historic 1855 Harris Kearney House, 4000 Baltimore, Kansas City, MO. You’ll get the chance to meet and talk with artisans and learn the unique history of when Kansas City began at Westport on the Santa Fe Trail. Exhibits and activities are happening:
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There is no charge to visit the grounds. Indoor guided tours featuring additional artisans are $5 for adults, free for kids 13 and under, as well as members of the Westport Historial Society.
Make it a full weekend and take in Art Westport happening on the same days.
