You’ll want to read carefully and follow the links. Some are all-ages Halloween activities, while others are better suited for kids of a certain age.

Hoots & Howls

Hours: 9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Admission: FREE with Zoo admission
Hoots & Howls offers multiple weekends of fun and cute Halloween activities for kids at the Kansas City Zoo. Each weekend has a different theme.
Worlds of Fun Great Pumpkin Fest
September 16 & 17, 2023
Location: Worlds of Fun
Hours: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Admission: Included with paid park admission
Family-friendly (not scary) Halloween-themed activities in Planet Snoopy. Kids can enjoy rides, a costume contest, trick-or-treating, a petting zoo, crafts and a pumpkin patch. See here for Worlds of Fun Fall and Halloween information.
Alexander Majors House Ghost Tour – Kid-Friendly

History and Halloween meet up in Kansas City during a one-hour spooky storytelling ghost tour of the Alexander Majors House.

Teen Monster Mash
October 20, 2023
Location: Olathe Indian Creek Library
Hours: 6:30 – 8 PM
Admission: FREE
This after-hours teen event is FREE, but registration is required. Enjoy an evening of dancing, crafts, and treats. There will also be a costume contest.
Edgar Allan Poe Escape Room

Location: Olathe Indian Creek Library – 16100 W. 135th Street
Hours: Varies by day
Admission: FREE
Teenagers and adults are invited to explore and escape a room inspired by the classic works of one of America’s most chilling authors.

Electric Poe

Location: The Coterie Theater
Hours: 6:30 PM
Admission: Single tickets range from $18 – $25.00
Live theatrical readings of Edgar Allen Poe classics are brought to life at The Coterie Theater. Please note that Electric Poe is best suited for kids 10 and older.
1859 Jail Museum Ghost Tour & Mini-Investigation
October 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, & 28
Location: 1859 Jail and Marshal’s Home – Independence, MO.
Hours: 7 PM
Admission: $35
Get a spooky experience with history, ghostly tales, and a guided tour of the 1859 Jail and Marshal’s Home in historic Independence. All ages are welcome.

Location: Roanoke Park – Kansas City, MO

The KCRep continues Ghost Light, a relatively new Kansas City Halloween tradition combining music and local storytellers sharing fun and frightening stories. Best suited for kids 8+.

Enchanted Forest

Haunted Swamp and Pumpkin Dive

Location: Olathe Community Center – 1205 E. Kansas City Rd.
Halloween costumes aren’t allowed for this event, but there is pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating at lifeguard stations, and a pumpkin dive in the pool.
Spring Hill Spooktacular

Location: Spring Hill Sports Complex
Hours: 6 PM – 9 PM
Admission: FREE
Costumes are encouraged at the annual Spring Hill Spooktacular offering face painting, photo booth, balloons, games, and FREE trick-or-treating.
Night of the Living Farm

Independence Halloween Parade

Location: Independence Square
Hours: 10 AM
Admission: FREE
Dress up and join the 75th Annual Halloween Parade in Independence. This is a big and longest-running Halloween parade in Kansas City.
Trick-or-Treat OFF the Street
October 28, 2023
Location: Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm – Olathe, KS
Hours: 3 PM to 6 PM
Admission: $4 at the gate, $3 in advance, and under 3 are FREE
Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride along with trick-or-treating and pioneer fall fun during Trick-or-Treat OFF the Street at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm.
Kaw Prairie Fall Fest
October 28, 2023
Location: Kaw Prairie Community Church – Lenexa, KS
Hours: 5 PM – 8 PM
Admission: FREE
Kaw Prairie Community Church at 9421 Meadow View Drive in Lenexa has an evening of Halloween family fun planned during its Fall Fest.
From 5 – 6:30 p.m., kids can enjoy a trunk-or-treat. A spooky movie is projected outdoors from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Boo at the Zoo
