Drive through or walk around to take in the spectacle of this Kansas City holiday tradition 90+ years in the making. The Plaza lighting ceremony takes place the night of Thanksgiving, but you can enjoy the decor through the new year.
Our favorite Plaza dining and drinking spots to visit during the holidays include:
Cafe Trio: This place is decorated for many holidays, and Christmas is no exception. The enclosed patio keeps you cozy but still able to enjoy gorgeous views of the Plaza lights. Happy hour specials let you wine and dine without breaking your budget.
Brio Italian Grille: Head upstairs, where you can hopefully score a seat near the fireplace and get a good view of the Plaza lights. Stay off the naughty list by taking advantage of happy hour specials from 3 to 7 p.m. every weekday.
Christmas in the Park

Christmas spirit is aglow during Christmas in the Park, a drive-thru display that’s been happening in Kansas City for more than 30 years. Admission is FREE, but donations are accepted to benefit local charities.

It’s Christmastime in the city and one of the best places for holiday fun in Kansas City is Crown Center. Each year a number of events and activities create a festive environment indoors and outdoors for all ages.

Holiday Luminary Walk
Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens

The Overland Park Arboretum comes alive with pathways of candles for a woodsy winter walkabout. There is even an adults-only candlelight stroll for an even more peaceful setting. Silent Night, indeed!
