Ring in the Holidays with KCMO Parks & Rec Activities

The Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department is ringing in the holiday season with a variety of events and activities around Kansas City.

These are open to the public and many are FREE, but require attendees to sign up in advance.

Winter Magic Drive-Thru Holiday Light Display

Winter Magic, a fantastic drive-thru holiday experience lets you see elves in the toy factory, the longest light tunnel in the Midwest, a spinning tree and more. This lighted display runs nightly through January 2.

Central Region Holiday Party

A FREE drive-thru event is being hosted from 1 to 3 p.m. on December 11 at the Gregg/Klice Community Center at 1600 John “Buck” O’Neil Way.

Families must register in advance and can receive holiday bags with crafts, activity books, candy canes and hot chocolate. Gift cards for each family are provided by The Mayor’s Holiday Fund.

North Region Holiday Party

Pre-registered kids ages 13 and under will receive a gift at this event from 2 to 4 p.m. on December 11 at the Linc Creek Community Center, 5940 NW Waukomis Drive.

Christmas Train Rides

The KC Northern Miniature Railroad in Frank Vaydik Park will be up and running from noon to 4 p.m. on December 11. Rides are 75 cents.

In the event of bad weather, this activity will be moved to December 18.

Skate with Santa

Santa is taking a break from Christmas preparation and will be present at the Skate with Santa party from 2 to 4 p.m. on December 11 at the Linc Creek Community Center, 5940 NW Waukomis Drive.

This is a FREE holiday celebration with a photo booth, ice skating and more.
