Kansas City’s amazing automotive history is celebrated and preserved at the Kansas City Automotive Museum.
History boards, interactive displays and a rotating showcase of 30 cars highlight well-known and obscure local manufacturing, racing and collector heritage.
Kansas City Automotive Museum Hours
The museum hours may change according to the season. Current hours are:
- Tuesday-Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m.
- Monday: Closed

The Kansas City Automotive Museum hosts several events throughout the year. Some are at the museum in Olathe, The Underground in Downtown Kansas City (600 West 31st Street) or select locations in the metro. Follow the links for more details.

These FREE and cheap activities are hosted locally by The Kansas City Automotive Museum on a regular basis.
KC Car Collection at The Underground Tours: A look at Kansas City’s Car Collection at The Underground in Downtown Kansas City. Tours are offered at the discretion of the Kansas City Automotive Museum the first Friday of the month which also happens to be the Friday before Cars and Coffee.
The Underground Tours are from noon to 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance online or at the museum in Olathe. The tours are deferred to the next available date if a minimum of 10 people are not signed up to attend.
Historical Driving Tours begin at 10 a.m. Cost is $10 per person with a minimum 10 people, maximum of 10 vehicles. You provide your own transportation.

May 14: Auto Tech Car Show – Local students show off project cars at The Underground in downtown Kansas City. FREE to spectate.

June 18: Cars, Coffee and Pancakes – A special session of the twice-monthly cruise-in that offers a cheap breakfast.
June 19: Father’s Day at the Museum – Museum offers FREE admission for dads on this day.
July 17: The Great Car Show – Held on the grounds of the National WWI Museum and Memorial.
Sept. 24: First Responder Day. Museum offers FREE admission for first responders on this day.
Nov. 11: Veteran’s Day at the Museum – Museum offers FREE admission for U.S. veterans on this day.
Dec. 17: Breakfast with Santa – A special guest joins for a special session of the regular Cars and Coffee event.

The museum has a drive-in area that is dedicated to a different category of car each month. The schedule for 2022 is:

Kansas City Automotive Museum Memberships
Memberships to the Kansas City Automotive Museum start at $60 and are a great way to support the museum and enjoy all it has to offer year round.
Perks include FREE admission to the museum, discounted admission for guests, discounts in the museum store, advance notifications and discounts about museum events and invitations to members-only activities.
Memberships are discounted to $40 for students, military members, first responders, seniors and teachers. Just show ID to save $20 on an individual membership.
