Wildflower Walks, Bird Watching and More at the Overland Park Arboretum

A walk through the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is made even more interesting as you enjoy guided tours and instructions from local experts and volunteers. 

Some of the tours and classes at the Arboretum have a cost in addition to general admission. Here at Kansas City on the Cheap we’ve chosen to focus on those that are $15 or less per person. 

Guided Tours

Guided tours of the Arboretum are available for $10 per person, plus the cost of admission.

Walking tours are available daily. Golf cart tours are offered for people with disabilities  on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Limit of twelve guests per tour.

All tours start and end by the admission kiosk, located near the parking lot and main entrance of the Arboretum.

These tours are popular so book well in advance. 

Introduction to Bees & Beekeeping

Experts from Kansas Bee Company join the group to share all you need to know about bees, including the different types, life cycles, bee keeping equipment tips and more. 

Join from 10 a.m. to noon on March 5. 

This class is FREE with the cost of regular Arboretum admission but registration is required. 

Bird Walks at the OP Arboretum

Take in a guided tour looking and listening for birds in their natural habitat. Bird Walks are $10 per person, plus the cost of Arboretum admission.

Arboretum volunteers have identified almost 100 different birds that make their home in the gardens, so you’re bound to see quite a variety during your stroll.

Bird Walks are from 9 to 11 a.m. on the following dates. Pre-register online to secure your spot.

• April 19
• April 23
• April 30
• May 7

Walkers should wear comfortable, closed toe shoes. Long pants, bug repellent and binoculars are recommended as well.

Wildflower Walks at the OP Arboretum

The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is made up of 140 acres filled with thousands of native wildflowers.  Join one of their Woodland Wildflower Walks and learn more about some of these unique and thriving plants.

Walks are $10 and registration is required due to limited space. Participants will walk along the woodland trails. 

Walks are scheduled at 9 a.m. on the following dates:

• April 30
