The Elms Hotel and Spa has a colorful existence, beginning in 1880 as a healing destination for the mineral waters in Excelsior Springs.
According to their website, The Elms has been destroyed by fire twice – once in 1898 and again in 1910. Spirited legends persist that one of the local ghosts was involved in the fires. Other ghost stories include reports of activity in the lap pool area and an active housekeeping staffer from the 1920s.
