The city of Lenexa is making Ad Astra Pool and Park a dog’s paradise Saturday, Aug. 10. Come to the Tails on the Trails Festival and Dog Swim for a free day of fun with your furry friend.
The festival is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Browse vendor booths, take part in the pet talent show, watch demonstrations and let your dog jump in the pool. Ad Astra Pool and Park is located at 8265 Maurer Rd., Lenexa, KS.
Dog swim
Dog swims are $5 per for per session if you pre-register online, or $8 per dog per session the day of the event. For your dog to swim you’ll need to provide proof of current vaccinations. If you live in Lenexa, you also need to show proof of current licensing.
Fido needs to be a good boy during the swim. Here are the rules:
- If your dog eliminates on the deck or in grass area, please dispose of it in a trash can.
- Watch your dog at all times, be sure he or she is wearing their collar and license.
- No aggressive behavior allowed.
- You need to have at least one adult present for every two dogs you have with you.
- Dogs only. You aren’t allowed to swim or wade in the pool
- Toys and tennis balls are allowed in the pool but if your dog doesn’t retrieve the item you won’t be able to swim in and get it.
Schedule of activities
9 a.m.: Large dog swim (30+ lbs)
10 a.m.: Small dog swim (less than 30 lbs)
11 a.m.:
- All sizes dog swim
- Pet talent show (Best Trick, Best Talker, Most Affectionate and Best Dressed)
Noon:
- Lenexa Police Department K9 demonstration
- Large dog swim (30+ lbs)
