Jan. 23, 2021 is National Pie Day and Americans are invited to indulge in one of our country’s favorite desserts.
We’ve baked up a list of restaurants and bakeries that are celebrating National Pie Day in Kansas City. Before you scope out the deals, have a taste of some fun pie facts from the American Pie Council.
Cherry pie: At one time it was against the law to serve ice cream on cherry pie in Kansas.
Chocolate pie: Twenty seven percent of Americans believe chocolate pie is the most romantic kind to share with someone special. Remember this for Valentine’s Day!
Apple pie: This flavor is identified as their favorite pie by 36 million Americans.
Homemade pie: In 1949, just as TVs were at the peak of popularity, Crisco aired its first television ad, showcasing the difference of pie crust made with Crisco vegetable shortening.
2021 National Pie Day Deals in Kansas City
The Upper Crust: This downtown Overland Park bakery was recently named the best pie shop in the state of Kansas. Yelp curated the list and gave The Upper Crust a 4.5 rating. They are celebrating National Pie Day with a giveaway of one dozen cherry pocket pies. See their Facebook page for participation details.
Hen House Markets: Celebrate National Pie Day with three full days of Tippin’s pies at Hen House grocery stores. From Jan. 22-24, get a nine inch pie (apple, cherry or pumpkin) for $9.99.
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery: Every week, the eatery hosts Pie Society Monday. On Mondays, enjoy a FREE slice of pie with the purchase of an entrée, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can find a Perkins in Gardner, Gladstone, Independence, Lee’s Summit and Lawrence.
Village Inn: One of the most popular and well-known places for a variety of different standard and seasonal pies is Village Inn. Get $2 off any whole pie in-store at participating locations, while supplies last — from Jan. 22 to 24.
