KC Taco Fest ticket savings

The KC Taco Fest, an inaugural event promoting peace, love and tacos, is happening Saturday, July 13 at Crossroads KC at Grinders.

Admission

Tickets are $15 at the gate but you can save $5 by buying them in advance. Kids 12 and under are FREE. You can order tickets online  or pick them up in person at Grinders Pizza (417 E 18th Street, Kansas City, MO) or The Bottleneck (737 New Hampshire St, Lawrence, KS).

There’s also a $15 Groupon deal for TWO general admission tickets. That saves you as much as $15. I don’t have an expiration date for this deal, but the festival is approaching fast and everyone loves tacos, so it probably won’t be around much longer. But this special deal now and save so you can buy more tacos.

If you feel like splurging, there’s also a VIP option for $80-$100. This one gives you extra perks like FREE taco tickets, tequila sampling and a commemorative festival lanyard and shot glass.

The experience

Tacos taste good anytime, so this is a rain or shine event. The gates open at 2 p.m. and festivities kick off at 3 p.m.

Once you’re in, you can enjoy live music, yard games and nosh on tacos, chips and salsa, desserts, beers, margaritas and tequila that will be available for purchase. All food will be sold using tickets so look for the food ticket stations when you arrive. Alcohol and beverages will be sold by cash or credit card.

No outside food or beverages allowed. If you end up needing a little extra cash, there will be an ATM on site.

Competitions

The festival will have a competitive spirit with the following contests:

• Best Taco Competition – judges select the vendor with Kansas City’s best taco.
• Best Salsa Competition – judges the vendor with Kansas City’s best salsa.
• Jalapeno Eating Competition – An exciting competition among select attendees to determine who can consume the most jalapenos in a given amount of time. Only 10 spots are available, and you must be at least 18 to sign up. Follow @kctacofest on social media for information about sign ups.

KC Crossroads at Grinders is located at 417 E 18th ST, Kansas City, MO – the corner of 18th and Oak Streets. There is street parking all around the Crossroads District and the KC Streetcar is within walking distance of the venue.
