Fall is the season of bonfires, festivals, pumpkin patches, and so much more that figuring out what events to hit can be overwhelming. And for those who suffer from FOMO, the real anxiety is knowing there is Kansas City fall fun you haven’t even heard about! But don’t worry, FOMO is my middle name, and I’ve got you covered.
Read on to discover fall events in Kansas City that you may not have heard about but certainly do NOT want to miss.
Gieringer’s Family Farm Butterfly Festival
Date: September 23 & 24
Hours: 9 AM – 3 PM
Location: 39345 W 183rd St, Edgerton, KS 66021
Admission: $10 a person (2 and under free)
Gieringer’s is releasing the butterflies at noon on September 14th and 15th. Purchase your own butterflies to set free online before the event day and get a free butterfly envelope, or purchase your envelope at the door for $3; butterflies are not included. U-pick apples and zinnias will also be available on both days, as will food trucks!
Alice (in wonderland)
Date: October 13 – 22
Location: 1601 Broadway Blvd Kansas City, MO 64108

Get into the spirit of spooky season with a ballet inspired by Lewis Carroll’s beloved whimsical nightmare. Tickets aren’t cheap, but we’ve included the performance on this list because nothing says Kansas City like a ballet at Kauffman.
Symphony Concerts in Johnson County
Date: September 17, 30, October 3, & October 23
Location: Various Johnson County Parks. Learn more here.
Admission: FREE
Fall is best enjoyed in nature with orange and red leaves floating in the crisp breeze, your fingers wrapped around a mug of hot cider, and the sounds of the symphony as your soundtrack. Johnson County Parks will hold a fall concert series at 6 PM on three weekday nights this October.
KC Oktoberfest
Date: October 4 & 5
Location: Crown Center
Admission: $14 (Early bird deal)
KC Bier Co. presents the Munich of the Midwest, a festival full of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and locally brewed Beer. Celebrate your brews the traditional way this fall!
