I used to try to yo-yo. I always got the string all tangled up. I’m sure it was because I was using a cheap yo-yo. Now that I can spring for a better one, maybe I could become a yo-yo-master. If you’re interested in the art of yo-yoing (I’m sure that can’t be a word) check out yo-yo extraordinaire Brent Dellinger on Saturday, August 14, 2:00 p.m. at the Central Library, 14 W. 10th Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dellinger will give a high-energy, fast-paced performance set to music, with complicated tricks such as free-hand, double-hand, and off-string throwing (What ever happened to Walk the Dog and Rock the Cradle?).
You and your kids can bring your own yo-yos and get some tips at the end of the performance.
The event is free, but you need to register in advance.
