Welcome summer with a hike among the trees. The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens has a series of five, one-hour Champion Trees tours taking place in May and June.
Champion trees are the largest of their species.
Twenty-four champion trees within the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens have been identified.
During each tour you can see these massive trees along with plenty of others – sycamores, cottonwood, basswood, hickories, and oaks to name a few. Guides will share insights into how trees grow and impact the environment.
Each tour is unique and can be enjoyed as a series or standalone. Space is limited so pre-register online to get a spot.
Tours are scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. on the following dates:
- May 6
- May 13
- May 20
- May 27
- June 3
The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is located at 8909 W. 179th Street.
