The Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College is offering a free series of arts and music events for children.
The MTC Kids Jam starts with art activities at 10 a.m., followed by a concert with a children’s musician at 11 a.m. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended. The event takes place at the Polsky Theatre.

Saturday, September 26: Joanie Leeds
Leeds won a Grammy award for her ninth children’s album, “All the Ladies.” Her latest album is “FREADOM: Songs Inspired by Banned Children’s Picture Books.” She has won numerous awards and performed at prestigious venues all over the country. (Editor’s note: Also, we know her mother, her aunt and her grandmother, and they all recommend you see her show.)

Saturday, October 24: Matt Heaton
Matt Heaton & the Outside Toys will present a “spooktacular” high-energy Halloween celebration that blends catchy, foot-stomping tunes with playful Halloween mischief. Listeners can come in costume if they like. Heaton’s latest album is called “Tricks and Treats.”

Saturday, January 30: Allegra Levy
Allegra Levy is known for her original jazz songs. Her new album “Songs for You and Me” introduces jazz to kids, touching topics from how to say hello in 12 languages to bedtime, bath time, boogers and boo-boos.

Saturday, March 6: ‘Universal Groove: Music and Stories from Space’ with Kadesh Flow, Dinosaur O’Dell, and the Jazz Astronauts
Dinosaur O’Dell has released three award-winning CDs and a children’s book, “Zar and the Broken Spaceship.” he has been entertaining children with songs and stories for more than 20 years.
Kadesh Flow is a rapper with an MBA, plus a trombone player who has played for numerous hip-hop stars.

Saturday, May 8: 23 Skidoo & the Secret Agency
23 Skidoo & the Secret Agency is a Grammy-winning group that offers interactive and inspiring hip-hop for families. This electric ensemble combines the the lyrical style of golden age hip-hop with soul, funk, reggae and storytelling.
