Celebrate the Year of the Rat!
On Sunday, January 26, 2020, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art hosts its annual Chinese New Year Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is FREE.
A full day of traditional dances and music performances make up part of this popular event. Attendees can experience Pipa music, drum performances, drum and lion dances, traditional Chinese Guzheng Music, silk road dances and more.
Ongoing activities and demonstrations include Chinese checkers and other games, Chinese calligraphy demonstrations and bookmark giveaway, a zodiac animal hunt, paper lantern art activities, temporary tattoos commemorating the Year of the Rat, Chinese yo-yo performances, knots and paper cutting demonstrations, an Origami Rat demonstration, story time and book displays, painting, Tae Kwon Do and a display of authentic Qing Dynasty robes and accessories.

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Location and Parking
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is located at 4525 Oak Street in Kansas City, Missouri.
Parking in the parking garage is $10 (FREE to members). There is some small amount of FREE parking at Rockhill Road and 45th Street. This event is very popular so be sure to come early and get a spot.
