It is that time of the year again. Sunday, August 16, 2026, marks Kansas City’s official area code holiday — 816 Day. To celebrate, Kansas City is throwing neighborhood block parties, outdoor concerts, and family-friendly festivals across the metro, and all of the ones here are free to enter.
There are so many events for the weekend that it is hard to find all the details, but we have added as much as we can. Keep an eye on the 816 ay organizers’ Facebook page for more updates.
The celebration was started in 2017 by Brian “Bizzy” Benton, a party promoter who saw hip-hop artists nationwide celebrating their area codes and wanted Kansas City to do likewise. The celebration has grown every year.
