Theatre in the Park in Shawnee offers a free summer Movies in the Park season before the stage shows get under way. The season runs June 24 through July 17.
Movies start at 7:30 p.m., and the gates open at 7 p.m. Concessions, beer and wine are available for purchase.
Here is the movie schedule for 2026:
Wednesday, June 24: A Minecraft Movie, Rated PG
Friday, June 26: Tangled, Rated PG
Monday, June 29: The Wizard of Oz, Rated G
Tuesday, June 30: Frozen, Rated PG
Wednesday, July 8: A League of Their Own, Rated PG
Thursday, July 16: The Princess and the Frog, Rated G
Friday, July 17: Mean Girls (2024), Rated PG-13. This is a sing-along event.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.
The movies are shown at the Theatre in the Park, 7710 Renner Rd, Shawnee, KS 66218.
Theatre in the Park, which has been presenting live stage shows in Johnson County since 1970, also plans a full season of theater, both indoor and out.
