On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, 2017, the St. James Academy Performing Arts Department will be putting on The Trojan Women. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for students.
Here’s an excerpt about the play:
“It is morning. The Greeks have just defeated the Trojans through their use of the deceptive Trojan Horse. All the men of Troy have been killed at the hands of the Greek soldiers, and all that remain are the women of Troy – Hecuba, their aged queen; Andromache, wife to Prince Hector; Cassandra, daughter of Hecuba and prophetess; and countless widows. Talthybius, the messenger, delivers the grim assignments the women are to occupy as slaves to their new Greek masters. In the face of death and defeat, the Trojan Women must deal with their sorrow and despair as they question their gods, the cruelty of man, and the horrors of war.”
The show starts at 7 p.m.
St. James Academy is located at 24505 Prairie Star Parkway in Lenexa, Kansas.
