In honor of the Major League Baseball All Star Game that’s coming to Kansas City on July 10, Independence Parks and Recreation is hosting “Legends of Chrysler Stadium” and a youth baseball clinic at Chrysler Stadium on Saturday, July 7, 2012. Admission is $5.
During this event, the Jerseys of 10 local baseball players who played high school and American Legion games at the stadium and later made it to the big leagues will be retired (see list below). After the ceremony, Independence high school and American Legion baseball teams will offer a baseball skills clinic for kids ages 8-14. Kids will learn fielding, pitching, base running, T-ball work, batting, and infield skills. To register your child for the clinic, contact Jeremy Rogers at 816-325-7839 or jrogers@indepmo.org.
The ceremony starts at 9:00 a.m. The baseball clinic runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
