Teen programs
With guidance from the Kemper Teen Arts Council, the museum offers a variety of free programming created specifically for teenagers.
Teen Studio Saturday
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the third Saturday of the month, teens ages 13-17 are invited to explore modern and contemporary art, meet other talented teens, and experiment with materials used in visual art, fashion, slam poetry, and creative writing. Projects and themes change each month. All materials are provided. No registration is required.
Additional teen programming can be found here.
Adult programs
Artist talks, special tours, hands-on workshops, films, lectures, and performances are scheduled throughout the year, many in conjunction with exhibitions on display. Admission is FREE but most require reservations. See the full schedule here.
Family programs
Programming at Kemper Museum offers educational opportunities for all ages to explore modern and contemporary art.
Fine Art Friday
Fine Art Friday activities change each month but line up with current exhibits. Museum educators set up interactive experiences and discussions from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the second Friday of each month for kids ages six to 12. No registration required, you just show up.
Scavenger Saturday
On the third Saturday of every month, the museum holds a scavenger hunt for families. During the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., children with adults can pick up a self-guided activity at the visitor services desk and follow the clues on this “ART-astic” adventure. After the scavenger hunt, kids will receive a free take-home project. All ages are welcome and you won’t need to register in advance.
Sunday Art Lab
This all-ages opportunity is offered from noon to 3 p.m. the first Sunday of each month. You can experiment with different art materials while making artwork inspired by the museum’s exhibits, read books and explore the galleries with sketching materials. No registration required.
Tots on Tuesday
On the third Tuesdays of every month kids ages three to five and their parents can participate in crafts, discussions, stories and songs inspired by works of art. Sessions start at 10:30 a.m. and run for one hour. No registration is required.
Additional programming for kids and families can be found here.
