Fair fans missing summer festivals can get a taste of live music and fried fancies Aug. 21-22, 2020. Kansas State Fair organizers are hosting Fair Food & Tunes that weekend at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, 2000 N. Poplar Street, Hutchinson, KS.
Funnel cakes, fried pickles, root beer, chicken strips fried Oreos and other fun fair foods will be available for purchase. Live music performances will take place Saturday evening at Lake Talbott. You can also purchase tickets to enjoy a ride on the giant yellow slide that is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.
Admission is FREE. Attendees are encouraged to wear masks at the fairgrounds. Food vendors and outdoor seating will be spaced out to allow for safe and healthy distancing.

Kansas State Fair Music Performances
Along with fair food, live music performances are happening at Hutchinson Regional Healthcare Systems Stage at Lake Talbott. Performances include:
5 p.m.: Sassanachs, a high-energy Irish and folk rock-influenced band hails from Harvey County.
6 p.m.: Makayla Brownlee, the Wellington teen was on the 2020 season of American Idol, making it into the Top 40.
7 p.m.: Lockeland, this Nashville country group includes a member who grew up in Independence, KS.
