On Saturday, May 19, 2018, Urban American Outdoors will host an Urban Kids Fishing Derby at the pond at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Kids ages 4-16 who are accompanied by a parent can enter the derby for FREE. There’s limited space available, so pre-registration is requested
As part of the National Park Service’s Every Kid in a Park initiative, participating 4th graders will get an Every Kid in a Park pass. The pass will give you and your family FREE access to national parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and more!
Bring your own pole, bait, and bucket. There will be loaner poles for those who don’t have one. The kids will compete for prizes for “winning catches,” including a $100 prize for the biggest fish.
Parts of the derby will be filmed for an upcoming segment on Urban American Outdoors TV with host Wayne Hubbard. UAOTV airs weekly on Bounce TV on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m., and offers sports enthusiast’s a chance to view outdoors from a different perspective. Wayne Hubbard has for the past 19 years been sharing his outdoor adventures, conservation tips, green ideas, wildlife information, and STEAM education, and has mentored more than 100,000 kids in the greater Kansas City area.
