On Friday, November 10, 2017, the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library is holding its annual Storytelling Celebration. Admission is FREE.
This event will feature a mixture of lively stories, anecdotes, myths, legends, and lessons.
The evening will open with a Friday Night Family Fun session featuring Lawrence, Kansas, storyteller Priscilla Howe, a performer who uses puppets with her stories.
Next, there will be a ghost-tales session (recommended for ages 10+) with three visiting storytellers:
- Scott Whitehair, whose stories combine a mixture of vulnerability, humor, and insight
- Historical character interpreter Sheila Arnold Jones
- Adam Booth, who uses a mixture of traditional folklore and music, and an awareness of contemporary Appalachia in his stories
This event starts at 6:30 p.m.
