This Friday and Saturday, September 7-8, 2012, Wonderscope Children’s Museum is hosting a Sand in the City Sand Sculpting Contest in their parking lot. The outdoor event is free; museum admission is $6 for ages 3 and up; $4 for ages 1-2.
On Friday, more than 90 tons of sand will transform a portion of Wonderscope’s parking lot into a sandy beach. There will be a team sand sculpting competition from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., photos with the sculptures from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., and a VIP Sandblast Party from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Kids will also be able to play in the giant sand pile. Concessions will be available.
On Saturday, you can view the sculptures from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and vote for your favorite to win the People’s Choice Award. Inside the museum (see admission fees above), there will be interactive exhibits, and Dino O’Dell will be performing at 2:00 p.m.
Wonderscope Children’s Museum is located at 5700 King in Shawnee, Kansas.
