I read about this in today’s Kansas City Star and thought I’d spread the word. Tonight, August 12, 2010, there will be a meteor shower as “the Earth hurtles through the trail left by an ancient comet.” Evidently, the conditions are such that the meteors should be easier to see than they’ve been in previous years, with up to 60 to 100 visible per hour. The show will start before midnight, but will peak in the hours before dawn. You can watch from your house (try to find a place without too many lights), or you can go to the free viewing party at Powell Observatory at 10297 W 263rd Street in Louisburg, Kansas.

They forgot the very important detail…of what part of the sky to watch…I think I heard on the news that you look to the North East sky.
