On January 18, 2010, the city of Lee’s Summit will honor the contributions and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the City’s 13th Annual communitywide celebration.
The preshow, featuring the music of the Lee’s Summit North High School Jazz Band, starts at 6:45 p.m. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Pavilion at John Knox Village, 520 NW Murray Road, in Lee’s Summit.
Lee’s Summit Mayor Karen Rose Messerli will welcome guests, then the Reverend Wallace Hartsfield Sr. will deliver a keynote address that will focus on the theme, “Service Keeps the Dream Alive.”
The celebration will feature performances by:

- Lee’s Summit Christian Church Male Quartet
- Kiddie Kollege
- Grupo Atotonilco
- Heritage Dance Ministry
