The Kansas City Ice Center will have a free “learn to skate” open house from 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, as part of National Skating Month.
The learners will be divided into two groups — those who have never skated and those who have skated before. If you register for classes after the workshop, you will get $20 off a six-week class session.
Preregistration is required. Email Kay Gentges at kgentges@kcicecenter.com or call 913-441-3033.
The center also is having several special events in January for National Skating Month (you must dress in theme clothing to get the discount):

- Jan. 15, 2016: Pajama Night. Wear your favorite pajamas and skate for $5 from 8 to 10 p.m.
