On select Sundays and Thursdays through August 23, 2015, Kansas City Soap Box Derby is holding some Open Track Dates. Admission is free.
The track will be open for kids ages 7 to 20 to come try out a soap box derby car. Kids will start partway down the hill and coast to the bottom. If staff feels they can handle it, they will gradually let them start out higher and higher on the hill until they are ready to start from the top. Drivers who can drive successfully from the top of the hill will be issued an Official KC Soap Box Derby Driver’s License.
Here’s the schedule:
- April 19 (Sunday): 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
- May 21 (Thursday): 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
- May 24 (Sunday): 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
- June 4 (Thursday): 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
- June 7 (Sunday): 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
- August 20 (Thursday): 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
- August 23 (Sunday): 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
