On Sunday, March 30, 2014, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is holding a Passport to India Family Cultural Festival. Although all events are free, some require tickets.
This event, which runs from 12:30-4:00 p.m., includes dance performances, Indian food and drink for purchase, an art talk, a gallery walk, a fashion show, and more.
Additional activities:
- Pick up a passport to get it stamped at different stops throughout the museum.
- Try on a sari or designs featured in the fashion show and snap a photo of yourself.
- View a selection of Mughal books from the museum’s own collection.
- Learn with museum guides in the South and Southeast Asian Art galleries.
- Get a temporary tattoo while local artists demonstrate traditional Henna designs.
- Write your name in Hindi with the help of community volunteers.
- Create your own Indian design-inspired paper cuff bracelet.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is located at 4525 Oak Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Additional parking and shuttle service will be available at MRI Global, 425 Volker Boulevard starting at 11:45 a.m.
