Pack up the kids, dog, grandparents and a picnic lunch and head for Shawnee Mission Park. Saturday, June 5, 2010, is Johnson County Parks & Recreation District’s free Day in the Park. Get free admission to the beach and free pedal boat and canoe rentals. You can also fish for free (no permit required) and participate in geocaching (not really sure what that is), trail hikes and disc golf.
The free Day in the Park event is from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Beach hours are 10:oo a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Geocaching hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) Shawnee Mission Park is at 7900 Renner Road in Shawnee, Kansas.
geocaching is sort of a treasure hunting/hide and go seek with GPS.
