The free Celebrate AMERI’KANA Music & Arts Festival is back for its fourth year in Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhood. The free festival honors the melting pot of cultures, languages, and sounds that define American music. This year’s festival is Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The festival follows the migration of American music from the port cities of the Gulf of Mexico, up the Mississippi River, and right into KC. You’ll get to experience a cross-pollinated mix of genres, including Blues, Jazz, Zydeco, Gospel, Rock ‘n’ Roll, and Son Jarocho, a folk style from Veracruz, Mexico.
The Lineup: Making Movies + Austin Legends & Local Acts
The festival will present music on two stages.
The featured performer is Making Movies, a Latin Grammy-nominated band founded by Enrique Chi. Rooted in the tradition of Latin folk music with a rebellious rock spirit, the band created AMERI’KANA to benefit the community and donates a concert to the festival every year.

The festival also features young performers from Art as Mentorship’s year-round programs.
More Than Just Music: What to Expect
While the music is the main event, the park will be packed with a vibrant mercado (artisan vendor market) and family-friendly activities. Among the features:
- For the Kids: A bouncy house, obstacle course, instrument petting zoo, yard games, and a full art-making station (bracelet making, tie-dying, painting).
- Interactive Fun: Lifesize puppets, a Drum Safari drum circle, and a “Sass-a-Brass” bring-your-own-instrument parade and jam session.
- Food & Drinks: International food vendors, the NOMADA bar tent for adults 21+, and a completely free KC Water Bar (bring your own reusable water bottle).
- Beat the Heat: Concourse Park’s fountain will be turned on for water play, and the festival grounds will feature dedicated shade tents equipped with misters and fans.
Rocking Out for a Cause
Proceeds from the festival support Art as Mentorship, a Kansas City nonprofit that works to empower young artists and musicians.
While admission is 100% free, you can choose to purchase a VIP Ticket for $75 to help fund these youth music programs. VIP perks include access to an air-conditioned lounge, an exclusive shade tent with great stage views, and unlimited refreshments.
