On Sunday, March 6, 2016, Independence Center is holding a Caring Bunny Event (lower level Dillard’s Court) to allow children with special needs to have their pictures taken with the Easter bunny. Although the event is free, appointments are required.
During the event, which runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., steps will be taken to reduce sensory triggers, creating a more comforting environment for your child’s visit with the Easter bunny. This is a national event and specific elements may vary by store, but are likely to include:
- Turning off in-mall music, stopping escalators located near the photo set, and dimming the lights for the duration of the event
- Eliminating queue lines through the use of a numbering system whereby guests approach the set when their number is called
- Special activities geared toward the needs of the child during the ‘wait’ period to help the child understand what activities will occur during the visit
