Someday winter will be over giving way to sunshine and warmer temperatures. When that times comes, BikeWalkKC wants you to have your bicycle in tip-top shape for spring riding.
The local nonprofit is coordinating two Maintain Your Ride sessions in March. Both are FREE and designed to be a fun way to learn more about practical bike maintenance. The hands-on sessions include guidance on fixing a flat tire, adjusting shifting and braking, cleaning and lubricating a chain and other helpful know-hows.
Saturday Happy Hour Session
Saturday, March 7
2 to 5 p.m.
Bier Station
120 East Gregory Boulevard
Kansas City, MO
Sierra Nevada Brewing is joining in on this session so you can enjoy beer specials as you learn your way around a bike. There will also be raffles for cool outdoor gear.
Johnson County Library Session
Tuesday, March 10
6 to 7:45 p.m.
JOCO Central Resource Library
9875 W. 87th Street
Overland Park, KS
This session gets right down to business with learning how to keep your bike in good working order for the season. It’s recommended for adults and teenagers (14+) who are accompanied by an adult.
Mechanics won’t be able to offer help on individual bike repairs during these sessions. They are available to address questions as time allows and can probably offer recommendations for a local repair shop if your bike needs real TLC.
