Compassion Ministries is hosting Day of Compassion 2019, a public back-to-school event, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11 at Blue Springs Assembly, 2501 Duncan Road, Blue Springs, MO.
Volunteers will be giving out up to 500 backpacks and school supplies to attending students (must be present to receive these items). Students will also have an opportunity to receive basic haircuts and health screening to help them look and feel their best for the first day of school. Grocery giveaways will be available for the first 200 families and everyone will have access to information from local community resources such as the library and the Blue Springs Police Department.
The event also includes:
- A kids’ play area
- Face painting
- Inflatables
- FREE food (hot dog chips, cookies, cotton candy and snow cones)
The event is FREE and open to the public. No registration is required. Students from any district are eligible for FREE backpacks and school supplies while items last.
