The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is offering a free series of art classes, Relating to Art, for adults 18 and older on the autism spectrum. To sign up, call 816-751-1278 to enroll or sign up online.
The art classes are tied to current exhibitions and all are from 6 to 8 p.m. Here is the schedule:
- December 10: Create Benton-inspired portrait and explore the monoprint process in conjunction with American Art in the American Epics: Thomas Hart Benton and Hollywood.
- February 11: Create a Chinese brush painting with inspiration from Flowers to Frost: Four Seasons in East Asian Art.
- March 10: Create a clay piece with the exhibition Unconventional Clay: Engaged in Change.
- April 14: Experiment with plaster sculpture and see Phillip Haas: The Four Seasons.
- May 12: Do figure drawing and explore the Reflecting Class in the Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer.
