The Rose Garden at Loose Park is the one of the true gems of Kansas City. There are thousands of roses of nearly 150 varieties in the 1.5-acre garden. On June 3-4, 2017, the Kansas City Rose Society is hosting its annual Rose Show and Rose Day. Admission is free.
Schedule of Events
Rose Show (June 3): all rose growers, young and old, are invited to bring their roses to be entered in the show. You may drop off your roses from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m at the Garden Center Building. There will also be a photography contest and a “most fragrant rose” contest. Here are the rules and regulations.
Rose Day (June 4): bring your family out to the Rose Garden for Rose Day celebration from 1-5 p.m. Activities include the Mayor’s Proclamation, live music by Mighty Mo jazz combo, dance performance by Kansas City Youth Ballet, and a children’s rose craft workshop led by the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum. Hundreds of roses from the Rose Show will be displayed in the Garden Center Building for public viewing. Free ice cream, lemonade, and bottled water will be provided.
