The annual Powell Gardens Festival of Butterflies begins on Friday, July 26, 2019, and runs through August 11. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults; $10 for seniors (60+), $5 for kids (5-12). Parking is $5. Powell Garden members receive FREE admission and FREE parking.
Daily activities during the festival include a walk through the tropical conservatory display and native butterfly habitat, two FREE family-friendly drop-in hands-on activities and access to view the Minteer Collection Butterfly display.
Special activities on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) include:
Conservatory Butterfly Release and Short Talk
11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day
Each talk lasts about 15 minutes and covers several of the species on view and how butterflies are cared for.
Butterfly Fashion Parade
1 p.m. each day
A marching parade with music and a giant caterpillar.
Native Butterfly Show and Tell
1:30 p.m. each day
A family-friendly show and tell experience to learn about native species in our native butterfly habitat. Includes a hands-on experience to find live caterpillars among plants in the display. A short butterfly hunt in the garden with nets will follow.
Resource Center
The multi-purpose room space will be activated to promote native butterfly habitats and conservation. The Idalia Society will be featured August 2, 3, 5 and 9, 10, 11 only.

Powell Gardens is located at 1609 Northwest U.S. Highway 50 in Kingsville, Missouri (about 30 miles East of Kansas City).
