This Friday and Saturday, November 29-30, 2013, the Harris-Kearney House Museum is holding its annual Candlelight Tours. Tickets are $10 (cash only). Here are the details:
Friday, November 29: Candlelight Tours through a 1920s KC Christmas (Family-Friendly Version)
Take a tour through the historic Harris-Kearney House and see how Kansas City did Christmas in the 1920s. Play period parlor games, make a Christmas decoration to take home, and chat with period characters about life in KC after WWI. Afterward enjoy Christmas refreshments. Your ticket price includes a full tour of the house with characters and activities in every room. Times: Tours start every 15 minutes from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 30: Backroom Speakeasy (Adult Version: ages 16+)
It’s Christmas Eve 1922, and the prominent residents of Kansas City will be gathering at a secret Speakeasy in Westport. Make friends with a variety of Kansas City characters for a personal invitation to their Holiday Speakeasy. Your ticket price includes a basic candlelight house tour ending in the Speakeasy, mocktails, refreshments, and a small stack of fun chips for mock gambling. Additional fun chips will be available for purchase. Times: Tours will begin at 6:00 p.m. and enter the house every 15 minutes until 9:00 p.m. You can stay as long as you like.
