A back-to-school Immunization Drive is underway at the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department (KCHD) to meet the high demand for the upcoming school year. This includes extended hours and a special Saturday clinic.
To Get Vaccinations at the KCMO Health Department
Bring your kids to the KCHD clinic at 2400 Troost Avenue, Suite 1400, Kansas City, MO. The health department does not schedule appointments.
Children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. Bring along a copy of your child’s previous shot records and insurance or Medicaid cards if you have them. If someone else is bringing your kid(s) in for you, be sure to provide a written or signed letter with the following information:
- Parent or legal guardian’s name
- Child’s name
- Name of the person accompanying the child
- Phone number where you (the parent or legal guardian) can be reached
The person accompanying the child must have a picture ID even if they are the parent or legal guardian.
Extended Clinic Hours
Normal operating hours (excluding holidays) for the KCHD clinic are:
- 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
- 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursdays, with registrations closing at 12:30 p.m.
Registration for clinics ends 30 minutes prior to closing time.
On Monday, Aug. 12, the immunization clinic will remain open until 6 p.m. Registration may close early depending on the number of families already in line.
Saturday Clinic
The health department is normally closed on Saturday, but on Saturday, Aug. 10, the health department will hold a special immunization session from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you’re not able to get to the clinic some time during the week, this may be a good option.
Cost
Immunizations are free for children who live in the city of Kansas City, MO, and do not have health insurance, are under-insured or eligible for Medicaid. Those not living in the city of Kansas City, MO, will have a fee of $10 for the first child seen and $5 for each additional child in the same family.
For those who don’t qualify for either of these options, KCHD also offers a service where you can pay for the vaccine. Information for that cost is available at the clinic.
Vaccination Requirements
