The National WWI Museum and Memorial invites everyone to join an Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display like never before.
Kansas City will celebrate our nation’s independence at the Stars and Stripes Picnic on Saturday, July 4.
This is a FREE Fourth of July celebration in Kansas City.
The public is welcome to begin picnicking on the south grounds of the Museum and Memorial at Penn Valley Park as early as 3 p.m. on July 4. The grounds will host local food trucks, family-friendly activities, local vendors and artisans, local entertainment, and live music performances. You can also bring your own food and drinks, but no grills.
This year, the public also has the option of participating in the event as part of the FIFA Fan Festival. You can get in with a free pass if you register in advance. There are a limited number of passes available. Or, you can get in with an All-Access Museum ticket, which costs $20 to $30 and arrive by 4:45 p.m.
A fireworks display will begin around 9:40 p.m. This year’s event will be three times as large as previous events.
Here is the entertainment schedule:
- 6:45 p.m. Lost Wax and DJ Ashton Martin
- 10 p.m. (after the fireworks) Lost Wax
World Cup matches are at noon and 4 p.m., for those who are attending the Fan Festival.
