Love it or hate it (and we can all agree we hate it, right?), every year, Daylight Savings begins and it ends. And, if you’re like me, every year you find yourself googling “When exactly is Daylights Savings 2024?”
When is Daylight Savings 2024?
On March 10, 2024 we will change our clocks one hour forward.
But wait! What’s the one in November, and what’s the difference?
The difference between Daylight Savings and Daylight Savings End
Daylight Savings is the second weekend in March, and as its name implies — the point is to extend our daylight hours with a bit of clock manipulation. By moving the clock forward one hour at the same time we begin approaching Summer Solstice (the longest day of the year), our Daylight hours stretch well into the evening hours, making the part of our days we typically work and play much longer.
This day is often referred to as Spring Forward, which is also an easy way to remember what direction we’re supposed to be moving the clock (because, let’s be real, few of us can ever remember.)
Daylight Savings End will fall on November 3, 2024 this year, and as its name also implies — it’s when our long evenings are officially over and our endless nights begin. This is often called Fall Back, and like its counterpart, Spring Forward, it works as both a name and a handy reminder– in the Fall, we turn the clocks back an hour.
But let’s not rush past the fun and go directly to the heartbreak — instead, let’s focus on the positive —
we made it, folks.
