Break out your Lederhosen, German Steins and Das Boots because it’s time for Transport Brewery’s Oktoberfest celebration.
The Shawnee-based brewery is so excited about fall they are hosting a weeklong Oktoberfest celebration from September 18 – 24.
You’re invited to eat, drink and be festive at a variety of family friendly events taking place at Transport Brewery located at 11113 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS.
Oktoberfest Biergarden
Beginning Thursday, September 23, Transport Brewery releases Festbier! and many other different German Style Beers produced just steps away in the brewhouse. Cider and wine from local vendors will be available for those who would like another drink option.
The crown jewel of Transport Brewery’s Oktoberfest celebration is the outdoor Biergarden.
The party spills outside into the lot behind Transport Brewery so there is plenty of room for fun and comfort. The outdoor Biergarden is open Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24.
Food, drinks and Oktoberfest merchandise are available for purchase, all while festival goers enjoy the sounds of traditional and not-so-traditional live music. The Happy Wanderers return to playing an array of German Beer Hall Music.
Admission to the Biergarden is FREE.
Bring lawn chairs to enjoy the festivities. Kids and leashed dogs are welcome.
Stein Holding Competition: Strike a pose during the stein holding competition Saturday, September 24 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The last person standing takes home a $100 Transport Brewery gift card and gets a FREE membership into their Annual Trailblazers Mug Club.
Oktoberfest Beer Pairing Dinner
Transport Brewery hosts an authentic Beer Pairing Dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 18. Cost is $60 which is a little higher than some of the activities Kansas City on the Cheap usually promotes, but we do think it is a good value. If you’re splurging for fall fun in Kansas City, this is a good choice.
The price includes a welcome beer of your choice and a feast of:
- Fresh Daily Baked Bread
- Sliced Käsekrainer (Pork and Cheddar Cheese) Sausages with Red Cabbage
- Bratwurst with Sauerkraut & Mustard
- Schnitzel with Käsespätzle
- Apfelstrudel mit Schlag (Freshly Baked Appel Strudel)
Seats are limited. We recommend buying tickets for the Oktoberfest Beer Pairing in advance.
Bring Your Own Stein, Mug or Boot Night
Kick off Oktoberfest with Bring Your Own Stein, Mug or Boot Night beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 22. Show off what you have to drink out of and enjoy 16 ounce pours for $7.
Pretzels and brats are offered for sale. Enjoy with music for the evening.
Please note that Thursday is the only night you can bring your own stein, mug or boot to the Transport Brewery Oktoberfest as no glass is allowed outside per city regulations.
