Many Memorial Day events have been cancelled, limiting how Americans can honor those who died while serving in our nation’s armed forces. The American Legion National Headquarters is using social media to provide a safe and respectful way to pay tribute to these heroes.
American Legion Family members and those outside the organization are asked to share the names of friends and family they will think of on Memorial Day 2020. The organization will begin sharing these remembrances on social media channels throughout Memorial Day Weekend.
You can include your loved one in this tribute by providing:
- The service member’s name, along your relationship to the service member
- Year entering and leaving the military
- Branch of service served
- American Legion membership if this applies
- A photo of the service member, either in uniform or civilian clothes.
Submissions for the American Legion Virtual Memorial Day can be shared here.
Memorial Day 2020 tribute submissions will appear on Facebook and Twitter beginning May 22. Follow along with the hashtag. #VirtualMemorialDay.
