The Kansas City Chiefs will celebrate the 29th edition of Red Friday on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
In celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs recent Super Bowl win, this year’s Red Friday flag has a championship design. Flags are being sold for $5 at the following locations:
- All Kansas City and St. Joseph area McDonald’s restaurants
- All Kansas City area HyVee stores
- CommunityAmerica Credit Union branches
- Nine Topeka-area McDonald’s restaurants
- 55 McDonald’s locations in Springfield and surrounding areas
- Springfield Hy-Vee on Battlefield Road
- Online ($10 including shipping)

Chiefs fans are reminded of social distancing when buying their flags and encouraged to use exact change of $5 per flag or be willing to make a donation if they use larger bills.
Red Friday – Kickoff Edition Events & Activities Schedule
During the lead up to Red Friday a series of festivities are taking place culminating with the team playing the Houston Texans in the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Sept. 2: Union Station and the Country Club Plaza turn red with Kansas City Chiefs banners and jerseys on statues.
Sept. 3: The spirit moves to Westport with Kansas City Chiefs banners covering the district.
Sept. 4: Kansas City Chiefs logos are painted throughout the city. How many can you find?
Sept. 8: The Red Friday – Kickoff Edition murals are revealed and the Kansas City skyline light sup red.
Sept. 9: Towers and fountain waters turn red at Mill Creek Park, Northland Fountain & Crown Center, Meyer Circle Fountain and Waldo Water Tower. The virtual Red Friday Run takes off and Red Friday flags go on sale.
Thursday, Sept. 10: Game day!
